Here are pictures showing what her hemangioma looks like on day two of treatment.
She was suprisingly happy this day. We were told most babies don't feel well for the first two days after treatment. This day she was all smiles and cooing a lot, very good for our hearts.
This is the PICC line. The black ties are sutures holding it down in her arm. This is so the line can't get pulled out. The tubing going off to the left is capped off at the end. This is the port we have to flush once a day and how they give her chemo.
We ace bandage her PICC to her arm so she can't pull it and so it's protected from germs.
Ace bandages must taste good to a two month old!

Blessings to you. I am so sorry that your little girl has to go through all this. My daughter also has multiple hemangiomas and though we didn't go through chemotherapy we were faced with that as an option. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you know that you will get through this.
ReplyDeleteOh, man, Brooke. I was doing fine until the picture with that big ol' needle and tube contraption on her arm. But she sure is darling--hemangioma or not. I'll be praying for comfort and strength for all three of you guys over these next several months.

ReplyDeleteHey! Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. My daughter's hemangioma is on the left side of her face (right, if you're looking at her). We noticed a lump around 5 months and it has not gone away so we were referred to an ENT. We have another apt in 2 weeks but right now they are acting like they don't want to do anything and see if it goes away. I just don't know how I feel about that. Your little girl is adorable and she looks like she's not really bothered by anything! What have you found out through your research?
ReplyDeleteWow I can't imagine how hard it must be to go though this with Addison! But it looks like they really know what they're doing and that you found a great hospital to take her to. Keep on updating us when you can and tell baby Addison that her auntie Gena and soon to be buddy Lillian can't wait to give her a big ol' hug and kiss when we get to meet her :)
